[December 14, 2020]  LINCOLN -  Rodger "Charlie" Newman, 64, of Lincoln, passed away December 7, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center.

Visitation: 10 a.m. until Noon Friday, December 11, 2020at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home

Obituary

Rodger "Charlie" Newman, 64, of Lincoln, passed away December 7, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon Friday, December 11, 2020 at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 12 Noon. Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery. Casual Dress is requested.

Due to CDC recommendations there will be a limit of 10 people at a time, social distancing and mask wearing will be required.

Rodger was born April 16, 1956 in Lincoln, the son of Jake Newman and Bernice (Sills). He was a 1974 graduate of Lincoln Community High School. He retired from Caterpillar, was a long time Truck Driver. Rodger was a member of the Moose Lodge, Teamsters Local 916, the Illinois Rifleman's Association, the Midwest Truckers Association, and the UAW 751. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, York Rite, and the Shriners.

 

Rodger enjoyed racing, die cast cars, had an extensive belt buckle and hat collection, loved Ford Trucks, MAC Trucks, and Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved having coffee with his son on Sundays and when his daughter would come to visit with the grandkids.

He is survived by his children Jake (Kati) Newman and Miranda (Judson) Wilkerson; grandchildren Wyatt and Sophia; brothers Rich (Lou Ann) Newman and Doug (Sue) Newman as well as many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
