[December 31, 2020]

After the swearing in ceremonies at the start of this month, the Logan County Board held an organizational meeting. The first priority was to designate a new chairman, vice-chairman and parliamentarian. The positions of chairman and vice-chairman had been filled by Emily Davenport and Scott Schaffenacker for the past two years.

A chairman pro-tem is first elected just for the organizational meeting as it helps in the event of a tie. Scott Schaffenacker served as chairman pro-tem.

Both Davenport and Schaffenacker were nominated and voted in for second terms as chairman and vice chairman.

Cameron Halpin was voted parliamentarian to the board. The parliamentarian helps the board follow Robert's Rules of Order and the board’s policies and procedures.

Besides the appointments, the board voted on the adoption of rules, policies and procedures. These were unanimously approved along with the adoption of the financial policy.

New committee appointments

Lists with committee assignments were then handed out to the board members. Davenport said she tried to put people on many of the same committees as they had been the past two years but moved some people around.

Committees get five board members assigned and the board chairman serves on every committee.
