The Lincoln Railers returned home to Roy S. Anderson Gymnasium to
host the Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs on Friday night in an Apollo
Conference matchup. The Railers wasted little time showing the
Bulldogs why they are undefeated in the Apollo Conference.
After a close start that saw Lincoln on top 7-6, the Railers
immediately took a 13-0 run over the Bulldogs to finish out the
first quarter with a 20-6 lead.
Kameron Whiteman led Lincoln in the first quarter with 11 points.
Will Ewald set the tone early in the second quarter with a three for
Lincoln to extend the lead. Seconds later Ewald's drive put Lincoln
up 25-10.
Lincoln was on fire from beyond the arc and after Froebe hit his
first three of the game the Railers were rolling 31-12.
Whiteman continued to make it rain threes and added a couple more in
the second quarter, extending the Lincoln lead to 30 points, 43-13
now the score.
With the second quarter flying by, Ewald finished it just like he
started it. Ewald nailed a three to close out the first half and
Lincoln was in control 46-13.
Whiteman was the leading scorer in the first half for the Railers
with 17 points.
Lincoln continued to dominate in the second half, leading 60-25 as
the third quarter came to a close.
A running clock in the fourth quarter had Railer fans heading for
the exit a bit early. In the fourth quarter, Lincoln got threes off
the bench from Adam Grunder and Brody Whiteman.
After the Bulldogs managed a little more offense down the stretch,
the final score was settled on 66-36.
Kameron Whiteman and Dylan Singleton led Lincoln in scoring with 17
points each.
Will Ewald hit double-digits with 10 points.
The Railers outrebounded the Bulldogs 28-26.
Lincoln improves to 19-2 on the season and 7-0 in the Apollo
Conference.
Lincoln also won the JV contest 42-32. Andrew Graue led the Railers
JV with 15 points, all three-pointers.
Lincoln will host Nokomis tonight in a special evening featuring the
return of Loren Wallace, John Flowers and the 1980 Railer Basketball
team that placed fourth in the state.
