[February 15, 2020]    On February 15, 1839, the Illinois Legislature passed an Act splitting Sangamon County into four counties establishing Logan County, Menard and Dane (later renamed Christian.)

The measure was taken to make it more expeditious to conduct county legal measures, particularly pertaining to the acquisition of land deeds as the area became more populated.
