[February 22, 2020]  Logan County residents are invited to attend a “Meet the Candidates” forum on March 5th at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at the Johnston Center for Performing Arts at Lincoln College.

The event is being sponsored by the Logan County Republican Central Committee and will offer the public an opportunity to hear from the local Republican candidates who are currently seeking nomination in the March 17th Primary Election.

For Logan County Coroner, Don Peasely and Chris Sprague are the candidates. Bethany Rademaker and Kelly Elias are each running for the office of Logan County Circuit Clerk. The position of Circuit Judge is being sought by Judge Jonathan Wright as well as Judge William (Bill) Workman.

In addition, Brad Hauge is running unopposed for the position of Logan County State’s Attorney and there is a county-wide referendum on the March 17th ballot pertaining to the $0.50 per $100 sales tax for the restoration of the Logan County Courthouse.

According to Republican Central Committee member Jim Drew, the format will include allowing all the candidates plus a representative for the tax referendum an opportunity to field questions from the audience.

Drew said that the candidates will have the opportunity to speak to the audience, then will hear questions, presented by a moderator, that have been collected from the audience.

Drew said that the exact format for the meeting has not been completely nailed down yet, but will be by March 5th. What has been determined is that the candidates will be brought to the stage in pairs where applicable, and that there will be no pre-written questions. All the questions will come from the audience.

With there being several offices running opposed this year, the event on March 5th will give guests the opportunity to compare the answers of each candidate and hopefully help with their decision making process on election day.

The entire Logan County community is encouraged to attend.
