The Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers and the Hartsburg-Emden Stags were off to a slow start Wednesday night in regional action at the Ed Butkovich Gymnasium. The first quarter scoring ended with Mount Pulaski on top 6-1. Both teams continued to struggle offensively in the second quarter and the score was 13-8 at the half. 

 

Mount Pulaski managed two quick baskets to start the third quarter and eventually stretched the lead to 19-9. By the end of the third quarter the scoring had picked up a little bit and it was Mount Pulaski still on top 28-19. 

 

 

The Hilltoppers kept the Stags at a 10-point distance the first five minutes of the fourth quarter. A 10-0 run down the stretch allowed Mount Pulaski to go up by 20 points with under two minutes to play.

The final score was 53-38 as Mount Pulaski advances to the regional championship on Friday night at 7 p.m. The Hilltoppers (21-10) will play Warrensburg-Latham (15-15) for the championship.
