[January 17, 2020]    SPRINGFIELD – The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum was named the nation’s best place to hold events that offer participants a truly unique experience in voting conducted for Unique Venues magazine’s 2019 “Best Of” awards.

The library and museum won the “Best Venue for Unique Experiences” category for combining top-notch meeting facilities with access to exhibits, history experts and special activities, such as history-themed scavenger hunts. The magazine also praised the opportunity to hold dinners and receptions in a museum plaza featuring a log cabin on one side and the White House on the other.

“This award is a real honor and a very nice recognition of all the hard work by our staff and volunteers,” said Britta Brackney, manager of venue rentals at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. “More people are realizing the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is not only a special place to visit, but also a special place for a conference, wedding reception, awards banquet, convention reception or board meeting.”

Award winners – which the magazine calls “the shining stars of our industry” – are chosen by readers and industry professionals.

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum uses a combination of rigorous scholarship and high-tech showmanship to immerse visitors in Lincoln’s life and times. The library holds an unparalleled collection of Lincoln books, documents, photographs, artifacts and art, as well as some 12 million items pertaining to all aspects of Illinois history.
