Danielle Lora Hired as New
Principal for Mount Pulaski Grade School

The Mount Pulaski CUSD 23 Board of Education approved Danielle Lora
as the new principal at Mount Pulaski Grade School. Lora has been in
education for 14 years, with the last eight years at Lincoln
Elementary School District #27. She served 7 years as 6th Grade
Reading/Language Arts Teacher and one year as the STEAM Coach/Media
Specialist for Lincoln Elementary. Lora will replace longtime
principal Gene Newton, who is retiring from Mount Pulaski after 19
years as grade school principal.
Mrs. Lora, who was one of 15 applicants for the position, excelled
through two rounds of interviews before being offered the position
at the January 21, 2020 Regular Meeting of the Mount Pulaski Board
of Education. Mount Pulaski Superintendent Fred Lamkey reported,
“The district is extremely excited to bring Mrs. Lora into the fold
as an instructional leader. She has experience in instructional
strategies and leading staff in curriculum development and
implementation. Mrs. Lora exhibited strong leadership skills as well
as an ability to build relationships with stakeholders which will be
vital in facilitating school improvement.”
Danielle has also previously taught at Lincoln Junior High, Cantrall
Intermediate, Springfield Jefferson Middle School and at Puntacana
International School in the Dominican Republic.

Lora obtained her undergraduate degree from Millikin University and her Masters
in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.

Mrs. Lora, who will begin her work with Mount Pulaski School District on July 1,
2020, was employed to a three year contract running through June of 2023.
