IPCF COVID-19 Responses Fund distributes 32 grants
Includes two Logan County recipients

Illinois Prairie Community Foundation has awarded grants from its IPCF COVID-19 Response Fund to local nonprofits serving populations impacted by the COVID-19 virus and its economic consequences in McLean, DeWitt, Livingston and Logan counties.

IPCF received requests from 63 nonprofits requesting more than $511,000 in support. “The needs have certainly been great,” said Greg Meyer, Executive Director of Illinois Prairie Community Foundation. “We are pleased to collaborate with the local nonprofits to provide aid to people in need. By working together, we bring greater awareness of the needs and different means to serve various impacted populations.”

Receiving 32 COVID-19 Response Grants totaling $80,025.81 were:

· ABC Counseling & Family Services, Bloomington – $1,250 for Project Safe

· American Red Cross – $2,625 for Blood Services Delivery During Coronavirus Outbreak

· Best Buddies – $1,125 for Virtual Services for Best Buddies Program & Jobs Teams

· Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois – $2,500 for Community Based Mentoring

· Bloomington-Normal YMCA – $1,600 for Emergency Child Care Services

· Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal – $625 for Virtual Club Experience

· Boys & Girls Club of Livingston County – $3,875 for Emergency Child Care Services for Critical Services Employees’ Youth

· Child Protection Network – $2,000 for Funding for the CASA Program

· Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois, Lincoln - $5,000 for Agency Support

· DeWitt County Friendship Center, Clinton – $2,300 for Continued Operations

· Dove Inc. – $5,000 for DeWitt County Food Pantry and Financial Assistance

· Easterseals Central Illinois – $1,000 for Respite for Easterseals Families

· Easterseals Central Illinois – $1,500 for Telehealth

· Encore Development Services, Clinton – $3,000 for COVID-19 Utility Support

· Futures Unlimited, Pontiac – $2,625 for Meeting Individuals' Needs Through COVID-19

· Heritage Behavioral Health Center – $2,500 for Accessible Services During COVID-19 (DeWitt County)

· Home Sweet Home Ministries Inc. – $3,750 for COVID-19 Response

· Homes of Hope - $3,100 for The HOPE for Help

· Lifesong for Orphans-The Forgotten Initiative – $1,400 for Bloomington First Response

· Midwest Food Bank – $1,000 for COVID-19 Food Relief

· Neighborhood Care Center, Clinton – $2,100 for Crisis Relief Ministry

· PATH - $4,660 for 211 program

· Prairie State Legal Services Inc. – $4,500 for Legal Services for People Affected by COVID-19

· Recycling Furniture for Families – $1,000 for Providing Emergency Furniture/Beds to People in Need/Displaced Due to Financial/Medical Hardship

· Salvation Army, Bloomington – $4,000 for Rental/Utility Assistance

· Salvation Army, Bloomington – $4,000 for Safe Harbor

· Salvation Army Lincoln Service Extension Center – $2,875 for Basic Needs

· Salvation Army, Pontiac – $2,500 for Basic Needs for Livingston County

· Society of St. Vincent DePaul, Holy Trinity Conference – $2,000 for Food Pantry

· Sunnyside Community Garden & Food Forest – $665.81 for Feeding Our Neighbors

· United Way of Livingston County – $3,200 for COVID-19

· United Way of McLean County – $750 for Feeding B-N & Beyond

The Community Foundation collaborated with the John M. Scott Trust, which agreed to cover the costs for $50,000 in funding from 11 McLean County based applicants to the IPCF Fund. The Trustee has approved the COVID grants and nonprofits receiving funding from the Scott Trust have been notified.

The IPCF COVID-19 Response Fund was started in late March with a grant from the Drake Zimmerman and Jan Elfline Fund that matched the first $25,000 raised through the Fund. One hundred percent of all funds that came into the Community Foundation for the Fund ($80,025.81) were distributed to the nonprofit organizations listed above.

“The need continues and IPCF will continue to collect and distribute funds to help those affected by COVID-19,” said Meyer. Any donations to the IPCF COVID-19 Response Fund in the future will be used to address evolving needs in the community affected by COVID-19.

By establishing the IPCF COVID-19 Response Fund, the Community Foundation stays true to its mission of connecting people who care with causes that matter by offering philanthropic leadership, organization and grant-making for the long-term enrichment of our Central Illinois community.
