Ameren Illinois is working to replace 250 street lights in Lincoln. The lights are being switched from the sodium vapor, mercury vapor and metal halide street lights to LED (light-emitting diode) lights. Ameren says these lights will be brighter and provide more natural light while saving the city money on electric usage. The ongoing work is expected to be completed by June 15th.
