District 27 reminds the public that it is continuing to provide free
lunches to any Illinois child 18 and under as a participant of the
Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). SFSP is a federally funded
program that provides nutritious meals through July 3.
Free lunches are provided to children 18 or younger on Mondays,
Wednesdays and Fridays. The meals are drive-thru only from
11:30-noon at Central Elementary School, Northwest Elementary School
and Washington Monroe Elementary School. Adults may purchase a lunch
for $2. Each day participants will receive one hot meal and one cold
meal for the next day, providing a total of six meals per week per
child.
“District #27 is proud to provide this wonderful opportunity for
Lincoln youth this summer. We invite and encourage not only our
students, but all children 18 and younger to take advantage of this
wonderful program and are thankful to our community partners for
their help with providing volunteers and program support,” said Kent
Froebe, District 27 superintendent.
