Junior Achievement of Central Illinois Receives $10,000 Grant from Bayer Fund
Donation to support STEM Career Exploration through GP CareerSpark

Junior Achievement of Central Illinois has received a grant for $10,000 from Bayer Fund, which will be used to provide experiential curriculum and career exploration for eighth graders. In partnership with local schools, students will examine personal skills and interests as they relate to careers, identify careers of specific interest, and be introduced to local employers through GP CareerSpark in partnership with the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council.

“Junior Achievement is so thankful of Bayer’s investment in our future workforce,” said Mary Pille, President at Junior Achievement of Central Illinois. “Great progress has been made as the GP CareerSpark program has grown over the last three years through this partnership. The results will be seen for years to come as students are equipped with tools and knowledge to make the most of their education and prepare for their future careers.”

This grant will not only provide support to our organization, but also the community we serve by allowing us to strengthen the local workforce through career exploration and education.

This will be the third year Junior Achievement has received a Bayer Fund grant to support career exploration and this partnership will continue that impact.

“Throughout the years, the grants given through Bayer Fund have helped strengthen our communities across the United States,” said Al Mitchell, President of Bayer Fund. “We’re proud to be able to provide support to develop programs that help combat challenges such as food insecurity, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education and support services to patients and families managing an illness or disease.”

In 2019, Bayer Fund awarded more than $14 million to over 3,200 charitable and nonprofit organizations to help address essential needs in food and nutrition, STEM education and community development. Over the last five years, nonprofit organizations across the U.S. have received more than $79 million.
