[March 05, 2020]

Now through March 15th, shoppers visiting downtown Lincoln businesses will have an opportunity to be entered into a drawing to win a great big ‘pot of gold’ on St. Patrick’s Day.

Lincoln’s Lucky Leprechauns are being hosted in locations in the heart of the city by local business owners.
Each day, two leprechauns will be placed in two separate downtown businesses. Visitors who find the leprechauns can register for a drawing to be held on March 17th.

The pot of gold lucky winner is guaranteed to be big and filled with really good stuff from the participating businesses. Gifts included in the pot may be merchandise from a store or gift certificates to hold for future use.

And, the participating businesses are not just retailers, there are eateries involved as well as some of our popular coffee, snack and treat shops, and even a couple of service businesses located in the heart of town.

Lincoln’s Lucky Leprechauns started making their appearances on Sunday, March 1st. On that first day the two were to be found at Top Hat Creamery and Guest House Coffee and Pastries.

Today, the leprechauns will be located in two new locations. To get you excited here is a hint: This may sound corny but figuring out this hint might insure you get your name in the drawing.  This is the first and last hint you will get over the next two weeks so be sure to take advantage of it!

Of course, knowing where they are located will only help you if you go visit these two mystery locations.

The Lucky Leprechauns are coming to Lincoln from the imaginations of a collective group of downtown business owners who have banded together to promote downtown shopping and support one another in the effort to build their individual businesses.

This is the same group who promoted the Holiday Express during Christmas. That event was so successful for downtown businesses, that they did not want it to be a one-and-done activity.

Since then the group has been meeting regularly and talking about what they can do that is new, unique, and will serve the purpose of bringing shoppers into the heart of the city. The Lucky Leprechauns is just one idea that the business owners have come up with for the 2020 calendar year.

Kathy Williams, who owns and operates Small Town Creations, noted that the goal of all the promotions is to get people into the participating businesses. It doesn’t mean they have to make a purchase at that point, but if they come in the door, and look around for the leprechaun they will also have the opportunity to see what that particular business has to offer.

Downtown Lincoln does have a lot to offer, and shoppers who are looking for items that are special, unique, and not what they would find in the everyday big box store are going to find wonders of great delight to the imagination and to the pocketbook in our downtown businesses.

In addition to shopping, the plans for this year also include opportunities to visit local eateries and bars. Lisa Drew, owner of Sorrento’s Pizzeria, who is also participating in the downtown group, explained that there are already plans being made for another event in July that will draw attention to local restaurants and bars. She said that Nashville Night will be July 11th. On that night, every restaurant and bar in the downtown area will feature a different live band. Guests can choose their location by band, they can do a progressive food and drink tour around town, or they can choose their favorite food or drink spot and just enjoy whatever band is performing.

Drew and Williams are both very excited about Lincoln’s Lucky Leprechauns and say that the other business owners participating is also excited. They also know that the pot of gold is not going to be anything to sneeze at.

Readers will remember that last year in December the Holiday Express gave away several hundred dollars to three different winners. This new promotion is going to be one winner, so all the prizes collected from local businesses will go into one big pot and that one person who wins it is going to be in for a real treat.

Look for the Lucky Leprechauns in local businesses daily for the next two weeks. There is a boy leprechaun with a beard and a girl with braids. Each one will be holding a special little sign that says “Today's your luck day!” And, it may very well be!
