[March 10, 2020]  LINCOLN - Harry B. Thompson, 88, of Lincoln, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2020, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.

Visitation: Friday, March 6, 2020, from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Congregate Building of The Christian Village

Service: 10 a.m. Friday in the Congregate Building

Funeral home: Peasley Funeral Home, Lincoln     

Obituary

Harry B. Thompson, 88, of Lincoln, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2020, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.

Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at the Congregate Building of The Christian Village. Mr. Ryan Edgecombe will officiate. Burial will follow at Glendale Memorial Park in Pekin. Cremation Rites have been accorded.

A time of visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Congregate Building prior to the service on Friday.

Harry Baxter Thompson was born March 16, 1931, in Summum, Ill., the son of Carl and Musie Radcliff Thompson. He was united in marriage with Clara L. Plank. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2013.

Harry is survived by one daughter, Barbara (Kip) Knavel of Belleville; two grandsons: Samuel and Alexander Knavel; and one sister, Lena Ashton.

Funeral Director

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and several brothers and sisters.

Harry was a 1950 graduate of the Hartsburg-Emden High School. He served in the United States Army in the Korean Conflict. Harry worked for the Toledo, Peoria & Western Railroad (later the Santa Fe Railroad) as an agent for 30 years. He was a charter member of the Prairieland Christian Church in Hartsburg. Harry was honored to participate in the veterans Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. He enjoyed walking and reading.

Memorials may be made to the Prairieland Christian Church in Hartsburg.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Peasley Funeral Home of Lincoln.
