[May 15, 2020]    Congressman Darin LaHood (R-IL) today applauded the U.S. Department of Education and the Trump Administration for distributing over $54 million in funding for Illinois’ 18th District colleges and universities in response to the COVID—19 pandemic.

“COVID—19 is placing an incredible strain on our institutions of higher education and their students. Through no fault of their own, many colleges and universities have shut their doors for the remainder of this academic year. Congress took decisive action in the CARES Act to provide schools with funding to help them through this difficult time. As Congress weighs additional legislative action, I will continue to engage with our colleges and universities in Illinois’ 18th District to ensure they can get through this challenging time.”

This funding allocated by Congress in the CARES Act will help students directly in financial aid grants and for expenses due to the disruption of campus operations due the COVID—19 pandemic.
