[May 16, 2020]    Due to the Covid-19 virus, our Annual Membership Meeting has been postponed.

The HSLC Board of Directors recently held an organizational meeting to identify and vote on officers until such time as we are able to convene our Annual Membership Meeting.

The results are as follows:

Lynnette Maske – President
Marilyn Wheat – Vice President
Sue Jones – Treasurer
Jean Hall – Secretary
Kay Armbruster – Board Member
Victoria Padilla – Board Member

While the COVID-19 Pandemic has disrupted our fundraising abilities, we are grateful for the response to our mail solicitation letters, and also for donations we continue to receive from our members and from our Logan County community. The HSLC applied for and received gifts of 2 $1,000 grants for COVID-19 relief from the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln, and the Pedigree Foundation.

Animal intake at the shelter has been temporarily suspended and will continue to be suspended while we make some much needed repairs at the shelter. Due to recent storm damage and heavy rains, we will be replacing the shelter roof, as well as repairing ceilings heavily damaged by the leaking roof.

The shelter is still taking calls for adoptions by appointment only and continues to make available the shelter Food Pantry and Vet Assist programs for those in need. We are working hard to reinstate the Spay and Neuter Program and expect to have that in place very soon.

Our dedicated team of volunteers remain strong in their efforts to take care of shelter animals every day and we thank them for it.
