Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois Announces Extension of 2020 LIHEAP Program

[May 26, 2020]  Lincoln, IL – Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois (CAPCIL) is still accepting applications to assist households with energy assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Heating assistance and reconnection assistance applications will be accepted through June 30, 2020 or until funding has been exhausted. Any household that has not applied for assistance yet could apply as soon as possible. If your household has already received a LIHEAP benefit since October 1, 2019, you still might be eligible for additional benefit through reconnection assistance. Households interested in applying can do so by visiting our agency website at www.capcil.info and clicking on the Energy Services Department tab to submit an online application, by reaching out to us through our Live Chat feature on our agency website or by contacting us at 217-732-2159. All applications not submitted through the online chat feature will be conducted by phone interview.


CAPCIL requests that all phone applicants have the required information easily accessible to expedite the application process.

Required information includes social security numbers for everyone residing in the household, proof of gross income for all household members for the 30-day period beginning with the date of the phone interview, and the most recent gas and/or electric bill for the household.

The 30-day income guidelines still apply and are as follows:

Household of 1-$1,561,
2-$2,114,
3-$2,666,
4-$3,219
(add $553 for each additional household member).
