Route 66 crash Tuesday afternoon leaves one deceased

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police
District 9.

WHAT: Single Unit Fatal Traffic Crash

WHERE: Old Route 66 at 600th Street, Logan County

WHEN: Nov. 10, 2020 at approximately 3:47 p.m.

VEHICLE: Unit 1- 2019 Gray Chevrolet Equinox

DRIVER: Unit 1- 87-year-old male from Williamsville, IL - Deceased

PRELIMINARY: Preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling south on Old Route 66 approximately ¼ mile north of 600th Street in Logan County. The driver of Unit 1 ran off the road to the right, over corrected and crossed back across the south and north bound lanes before running off the left side of the road.

Unit 1 then went through a ditch and struck an embankment, causing Unit 1 to overturn several times, ejecting the driver.

The driver of Unit 1 was pronounced deceased on scene by the Logan County Coroner. The name of the deceased will be released by the Logan County Coroner’s office pending notification of next of kin. The roadway was closed for approximately 3 1/2 hours during the crash investigation. This crash is still under investigation and no further information is available.
