Lincoln Tales Tall and True online broadcast scheduled for October 7th
 

[October 05, 2020]     Lincoln Tales, Tall and True, with Austin Gollaher is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 7 PM featuring Brian “Fox” Ellis.

This entertaining program for the whole family will be broadcast live on the Looking for Lincoln’s Facebook page and YouTube Channel and will include a facilitated question and answer with the virtual audience. This is an engaging way to learn more about one of our most prominent leaders from a fun and unique perspective - Lincoln’s childhood.

Lincoln Tales, Tall and True traces Lincoln’s rise from prairie state rail-splitter to America’s favorite president, with the blend of history and humor attempting to disentangle the man from the myth. Presented in a storytelling format, these adventures will be portrayed from the perspective of Austin Gollaher, a childhood friend of Lincoln who once saved his life. Brian “Fox” Ellis portrayal of Gollaher allows the viewer to step back in time, and brings the earliest years of Abraham Lincoln ‘tales’ to life.

Brian "Fox" Ellis is an internationally renowned storyteller, author and naturalist. Fox is a frequent speaker on the modern Chautauqua circuit. As Austin, he has given performances at most of the important Lincoln sites in Illinois. Fox is also a museum consultant who has worked with The Field Museum and The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library. He is the Artistic Director for Prairie Folklore Theatre, a unique theatre company that celebrates ecology and history through original musical theatre.

The program is part of Looking for Lincoln Conversations, a series of live, virtual programs featuring a variety of topics surrounding the life and times of Abraham Lincoln. The series will include conversations with presenters will discussing music associated with early Illinois, the Civil War and the Underground Railroad.

“Looking for Lincoln Conversations provides a unique way to share the story of the life and times of Abraham Lincoln” said Executive Director, Sarah Watson. “We are able to engage with a virtual audience from throughout the Abraham Lincoln National Heritage Area and beyond.”

During the Covid-19 event, Looking for Lincoln has been proactively moving its programming online to make it accessible to a wide audience throughout Illinois and the world. The performances will be free to view, and broadcast on Looking for Lincoln’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. Looking for Lincoln Conversations is funded by Illinois Humanities and partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency.

The Looking for Lincoln Heritage Coalition is the coordinating entity for the 43-county Abraham Lincoln National Heritage Area. It is a partnership of organizations and individuals dedicated to enhancing the communities and landscapes of central Illinois through recognition and support of their significant natural, cultural and historical legacies.
