[October 09, 2020]    The Pittsburgh Penguins re-signed forward Sam Lafferty to a two-year, $1.5 million deal Thursday evening.

Lafferty, 25, is a Pennsylvania native who notched 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 50 games with the Penguins as a rookie last season. He was Pittsburgh's fourth-round pick (No. 113 overall) in 2014 and played collegiately at Brown.

"We have been very pleased with Sam's development," Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford said in a press release. "His size and speed are big advantages in today's game, and we like what he brings to our lineup."
