The Dallas Stars retained goaltender Anton Khudobin with a three-year, $10 million deal, the team announced on Friday.

Khudobin had a superb postseason to help the Stars reach the Stanley Cup Final before they fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games. He became a free agent within the past 24 hours and Dallas didn't wait long to keep his services.

With fellow netminder Ben Bishop ailing and later unavailable due to a knee injury, Khudobin started 24 of the team's 27 playoff games and had a 2.69 goals-against average, .917 save percentage and one shutout. Dallas was 14-10 in his starts.

In the regular season, Khudobin went 16-8-4 with a 2.22 GAA and a league-leading .930 save percentage in 30 appearances (26 starts). His GAA tied for third.

Khudobin, 34, joined the Stars prior to the 2018-19 season.

"Anton's play over the past two seasons has been nothing short of exceptional," general manager Jim Nill said in a statement. "The immense skill and unmatched work ethic we've known Anton (possesses) were on display for the entire hockey world to see during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. His impact on our team has been immeasurable and we're excited for Anton to continue his success with the Stars."

Khudobin also has been in net for the Minnesota Wild, Boston Bruins, Carolina Hurricanes and Anaheim Ducks since making his NHL debut in 2010.

Overall, he has a 99-76-25 record, 2.46 GAA and .919 save percentage in 218 appearances (198 starts).

Earlier this week, Khudobin underwent surgery on both hands to adjust the nerves. He experienced numbness while gripping his stick during the postseason and faces a recovery period of four to five weeks, according to Nill.
