A former Heartland Community College Trustee has been selected to fill a vacancy on the Board.

The District 540 Board of Trustees voted at their October 20 meeting to approve Jim Drew of Lincoln to serve as a Trustee until the seat can be filled in the April 2021 electoral process.

Drew will occupy the seat vacated in September by the death of former Board of Trustees Chair Gregg Chadwick.

Drew had previously served on the District 540 Community College Board from 2011-2017 and was also a vacancy appointment for several months in 2018-2019. At that time he was appointed to fill the seat vacated by Donald Gibb, who resigned in October 2018 due to a move outside of the District. He works for the Illinois Farm Bureau/Logan County Farm Bureau.

Drew will serve until the unexpired remainder of Chadwick’s term can be filled by election in 2021. Two years remain on the term with an elected Board member commencing office no later than May 4, 2021.

Individuals interested in seeking a position on the District 540 Board of Trustees in the April 6, 2021 election may pick up required nominating petitions at the Heartland Community College executive office, which is located in the Community Commons Building, Suite 2000 at 1500 W.
