Earlier this year the local Pheasants Forever Chapter sent out applications to all high schools for its first scholarship program in Logan and surrounding counties where local students attend.

Scholarships were open to seniors attending a college or university and studying Environmental Studies or Agriculture this fall.

Kaden Mott of Mount Pulaski and Sam Schemmer of Elkhart each earned a $500 scholarship.

Kaden is attending Fort Hays State University in Kansas studying Agriculture Science and Law Enforcement.

Sam is attending Beacon College in Florida to study Anthrozoology.
