[September 11, 2020]  The Christian Village senior living community in Lincoln, IL has announced its voluntarily initiated COVID-19 testing of residents and associates yielded no positive results.

“I am thrilled,” said Andie Halley, Executive Director. “It is wonderful to know that our care and efforts to keep everyone safe and healthy during this pandemic is working. It makes our residents, associates and their families very confident and secure to know that they have tested negative.”

Three hundred fourteen (314) tests were conducted at the community between June 1 and 2.

Testing is a critical initiative to fight the spread of the coronavirus and is key to easing visitor restrictions put in place to combat the virus. Without a vaccine to halt the spread of the coronavirus, widespread testing and tracing of the illness is essential to ensure public confidence that residents are safe.

Guided by the Centers for Disease Control, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, and the local health department, The Christian Village has implemented the following preventative measures and precautions.

• Daily screenings for associates every shift to monitor for signs and symptoms

• Clinical assessment protocols implemented to monitor for signs and symptoms in all residents

• 24-hour access to trained physicians through our Third-Eye Telehealth services to guide and direct care with our trained clinical team

• Screening protocols and management of admissions with our hospital partners to assure our communities can manage referrals safely

• Dedicated units for impacted or suspected COVID-19 residents

• Dedicated care teams with special training and assignments

• Extensive cleaning protocols for dedicated units

• Contingency staffing plans in place

• Optimization of supply and equipment management

These preventative measures and precautions are continuously modified to best respond to the changing nature of COVID-19. Residents and associates are encouraged to maintain social distancing and avoid places in the wider community that could expose them to the virus.

"I believe that if we do have the threat of a second wave, we will be able to deal with it very effectively to prevent it from becoming an outbreak," with adequate preparation over the summer months, Halley said.

The Christian Village has participated in the state’s infection control on site survey resulting in zero deficiencies.

“Our associates are the real heroes, and we are honored to be able to provide them with this test.”
