- Raymond Matthew “Mo” Merritt, 63, of Lawndale,
passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at St. John’s Hospital
in Springfield.

Visitation:
A celebration of Mo’s life will be from 4:00-7:00
p.m. Friday September 18, 2020 at his home, 207 Main
Street, Lawndale.

Obituary
Raymond Matthew “Mo” Merritt, 63, of
Lawndale, passed away on Saturday, September 12,
2020 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Mo was born on August 20, 1957 in Springfield. The
son of Addison Ray and Georgie (Clemons Parsons)
Merritt.
Surviving Mo are his daughters: Stephanie Turner of
Washington, and Melonie Merritt of Lawndale, four
grandchildren: Matthew Merritt, Alexis, Ethan, and
Elliana Turner; four brothers: Samuel (Lori) Merritt
of Pekin, Donald (Kay) Merritt of Lincoln, Jason
Merritt of Lincoln, and William Carson of Lincoln;
and many nieces and nephews.
Mo was preceded in death by his parents,
step-father: Danny Parsons, and sister: Sheryl
Carson.

Mo worked for the State of Illinois
for over 30 years. He was happiest in his garden or
on his lawn mower. When he wasn’t fixing bicycles
for the neighborhood kids or working on other
people’s equipment, he enjoyed hanging with his good
friends.
A celebration of Mo’s life will be from 4:00-7:00
p.m. Friday September 18, 2020 at his home, 207 Main
Street, Lawndale.
