The suspect in a Wednesday evening high speed chase in New Holland
is still at large as of 5 p.m. Thursday evening. Police believe
however, that he has left the area and is no longer in Logan County.
To be cautious, authorities are still recommending that residents in
the New Holland area lock their doors, windows, and their cars.
According to a witness account, the driver traveled at a high speed
and drove erratically on Wednesday evening coming from the west into
New Holland. After rounding the second curve through town, it
appeared he attempted to make a turn around in the road. He soon
lost control of the vehicle and crashed near the John Deere
dealership. The suspect fled the vehicle on foot.

Local law enforcement were in pursuit of the vehicle. They arrived on the scene
and implemented a ground search for the suspect, and at the same time issued a
warning to local residents to take precautions and be on the alert for anyone on
foot in their neighborhoods.
The witness account was posted on social media by a motorist who was traveling
the same direction at the same time as the incident. Local authorities have not
released an official statement other than to say that the suspect is still at
large, but no longer believed to be in the area.
