Lincoln Public Library District’s Youth Programs Resume with a Different Look

[September 25, 2020]  LINCOLN - The Lincoln Public Library District has resumed its FREE youth services programs. Programs began on September 14th and will run through October 23rd. Program story times and craft demonstrations can be found every day on Facebook and themed kits with all the supplies can be picked up at the library.

Library programs include:

STREAM for grades K-2nd which consists of a weekly take home kit, available at the library, focusing on a themed activity with demonstrations on Facebook.

The Lincoln Public Library is located at 725 Pekin St., with adult nonfiction and reference materials in the historic Carnegie Building. The Annex directly behind houses adult fiction and the Youth Services Department.

All library events are free and open to the public.

Hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Toddler Time with Tegan, for 6 months – 3 year olds, is an online follow-along music and movement class that is posted on Facebook every Tuesday.

Story time is geared towards 3 – 5 year olds and is posted every Wednesday on Facebook and themed craft kits can be picked up weekly at the library.

Explorer Club is geared towards children in grades 3rd – 5th with demonstrations posted every Thursday on Facebook and with educational themed kits available weekly at the library.

MAD SKILLZ for TEENS is a new program that teaches teen’s skills that will help them get through life, such as sewing on a button, ironing and steaming garments, checking the oil in your car, etc. These are posted every Friday on Facebook.

All programs remain posted on Facebook (@Lincoln Public Library District) for your viewing leisure. Free kits are available for library pick up, for up to two weeks after posting online or while supplies last. Don’t delay, get yours now! See our calendar at www.lincolnpublic

CIRCULATION NEWS

Fix-It Lincoln – The Library now offers a new collection of books on maintenance, repair, and upkeep. The books include topics such as automobiles, homes, lawns, health care, musical instruments, boats, and much more. Funding for this grant was awarded by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services to the Secretary of State/Illinois State Library.


Links on our Website - Our website has links to many free services, such as Library On The Go, WorldCat, Khan Academy, the improved World Book Web, and our Ask A Librarian service, as well as various downloadable forms. Check out what’s new!

3M Cloud – This is our new ebook database, which is an addition to our existing Library On The Go database. Thousands of titles are available, with more being added weekly, and can be searched via our online catalog. You will need a PIN number to get started. Stop by our Circulation Department for easy instructions.

Zinio – An electronic magazine collection with hundreds of titles. Create your account with Zinio from our website and start reading. Stop by the Circulation Desk for more information.

Going on a trip? – The Circulation Staff can put a hold on any outstanding requests you may have so you will get them when you return. Just stop by and let the staff know your travel dates.

E-mails and text messages – Our computer program allows patrons to receive texts and/or
e-mails for notification of reserved items and overdue notices. If you are interested in this service, please talk to a member of our Circulation Staff.



PIN Numbers – Don’t forget to take advantage of a PIN number (password) for your account. With a PIN, you can search the entire POLARIS system, see what items you have out, and request and renew books from home.


Gift Certificates – Need a gift idea? You can purchase a one year Library card for an individual or complete family that lives out of the library district. We will provide a gift certificate for presenting, and the recipient can bring it in, along with a photo ID and proof of address to receive their own Library Card.


Book Clubs - The Annex Building Circulation Desk collects reading lists for all the Book Clubs in the area. So if you can’t remember what you read or what you are supposed to read, we have you covered.
