People can now access live two-way video visits with a local healthcare provider through the Memorial app.

The service, ExpressCare Telehealth, uses video technology to allow patients to see and talk with a local advanced practice registered nurse from one of the Memorial ExpressCare clinics, all from the comfort of a patient’s home. The service is available for all individuals, even those who are not established Memorial Physician Services patients.

“ExpressCare Telehealth, especially when you combine it with the Memorial app, gives patients flexibility in choosing the time and location they want to receive care,” said Gina White, an advanced practice registered nurse and manager of virtual care for Memorial Physician Services. “Our providers are able to visualize the patient for the exam while still delivering the same high quality of care as an in-person visit.”

The service is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. Telehealth is most appropriate for common ailments and illnesses, such as skin issues (rashes, insect bites and inflammation), urinary issues, allergies, colds, flu, sore throats external ear infections, conjunctivitis, sinusitis and bronchitis. Labs and X-ray can also be ordered through this service.

In addition to being able to access ExpressCare Telehealth, people using the Memorial app can take advantage of its other features, White said.

This includes being able to schedule appointments with their Memorial Physician Services provider without calling the office and using the “On My Way” feature to secure their place in line at a Memorial ExpressCare location.

Telehealth video technology is secure and complies with federal privacy laws to protect patients’ information.
