Olympia FFA 2021 Plant Sale to be In-Person on May 1st and 8th

 

[April 27, 2021]   The Olympia FFA will hold their annual plant sale on Saturday, May 1st and Saturday, May 8th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, at the high school greenhouse. Everyone will need to wear a mask and social distancing will be practiced with a limit of 15 customers in the greenhouse at a time.

The Olympia FFA members have worked hard throughout the year to get plants ready for the sale. The FFA chapter is growing over 45 plant varieties including annual flowers, perennials, vegetables, herbs, and hanging baskets.

Out of the 45 varieties, the wave petunias seem to be the most popular. Starting at the beginning of the second semester of the school year, students in an agriculture class plant plugs and seeds in the greenhouse to sell to the community.

Then, throughout the semester the students have taken care of the plants by watering them, giving them fertilizer, and transplanting them when needed.

While all of the students work hard to get the plants ready for the sale, a small group works especially hard. This group is the greenhouse managers. The 2020-2021 group of greenhouse managers for Olympia are Noah Reber, Anna Sanders, Seth Jenkins, McKenna Lally, and Beka Magee.

Along with the individual plants, the FFA is selling yard art signs, and metal planters. These items were created with the chapter’s CNC plasma cutting table.
