Effingham defeats Lincoln 43-6

[April 27, 2021]  The Lincoln Railers football team hosted Effingham Friday night under the lights and the Flaming Hearts won 43-6.

Effingham scored a touchdown on a four-yard run by Trevor Donsbach with 6:54 showing on the first quarter clock. The kick for the extra point was good and the Flaming Hearts were on top 7-0. A six-yard run by Donsbach at the 5:20 mark and the extra kick put the Flaming Hearts up 14-0. With 4:09 left in the first quarter Parker Wolfe passed to his brother Garrett Wolfe for the 50-yard touchdown and the Flaming Hearts were cruising with a 23-0 lead. The first quarter ended with the Flaming Hearts on top 23-0.

In second quarter action the Flaming Hearts scored a touchdown on an 86-yard run by Donsbach with 11:35 showing on the clock. The kick for the extra point was off and the score was 29-0. Tristin Duncan ran the ball in for the 34-yard touchdown at the 8:43 mark and the Flaming Hearts would go on to take a 36-0 lead after the kick was good by Beau Hefner. With 3:35 on the clock Chase Woomer scored a one-yard touchdown and after the extra point, the Flaming Hearts held a commanding 43-0 lead at the half.

Lincoln would avoid the shutout and score in the fourth quarter. Scotty Battin scored an 86-yard touchdown on the pass from Elijah Pollice with 10:24 remaining in the game and that would conclude all of the offense on the night.

Effingham takes the 43-6 win and finishes the season a perfect 5-0.

Lincoln ends the season 0-6.
