In Turner’s office, she met with individuals and spent as much time as needed speaking with each one. With so many waiting to see the new senator, her staff stepped in to help answer questions about the new office.

Renee Martin of Mount Pulaski said that she will be working part time in Turner's office. The full time person in the office would be Casie Blue also of Mount Pulaski.

The Senate Republican Caucus appointed Marcus Durrett to serve Turner as Communication Strategist.

The Lincoln office will be open five days a week, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The doors will be locked between noon and 1 p.m. daily for staff lunch hour.

Turner’s appointment to the 44th Senate District was announced in January. Republican County Chairs for the counties of Logan, McLean, Menard, Sangamon and Tazewell selected her. She replaces State Senator Bill Brady, who announce his retirement in December of 2020.

Turner is a Logan County resident residing in the rural Beason area. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois Legal Studies and earned her Master’s Degree in Organization Leadership from Lincoln Christian University.

Turner began her professional career working as a juvenile probation officer. She then took a position in the Logan County State’s Attorney’s Office. In 1994 she was elected as the Logan County Clerk and maintained that position with five consecutive re-elections. In 2017 she chose to not run for the clerk position and had been retired until her appointment to the Senate.

In the announcement of her appointment in January Turner stated, “My focus is to bring financial stability and economic growth to Illinois by fighting for lower taxes, balanced budgets and smarter government.” Senator Turner said, “While holding tight to my conservative values, I will work across the aisle to find common ground beneficial to the people I represent and the State of Illinois. I look forward to what we can accomplish in the General Assembly and will be a strong voice for the good, hard working people of the 44th District.”
