Mayoral Statement regarding budget and appropriations

I would like to take this opportunity to clear up any confusion there may be on the status of our city budget. At last Tuesday's council meeting, it was said that we would no longer implement our internal budget as a means to prepare our appropriations ordinance. This extra draft budget was introduced several years ago internally and we found it to be an unnecessary extra step in our process.

We will be passing a formal appropriations ordinance in the near future as is required by law and to be filed with the County Clerk. I can assure that you will be able to see how we plan to appropriate and budget our monies and that these documents are always open to the public.

I have full faith that the council, department managers, and myself will be diligent, as always, in this regard. I hope this will clear any confusion.
