Something big to start LJHS new year

[August 11, 2021]   Something's new at Lincoln Junior High. And, it is big; in size. And, it is outside where everyone can see it.

Students will start the school year with a splendid pro-like baseball field.

The field located directly across from the school on Broadway Street has undergone a major transformation this summer. After all the mapping out, trenching in preparation for all new rock, hours of rolling, and paying attention to details; the new infield turf was being laid last week. The turf has been laid out and the adhesive strips have been applied. Final application requires stealth and precision movement, as there is a short window of time between when the adhesives are mixed and sticky to when it hardens.

The highly talented Strawn Sports Construction crew is one of the best sports construction crews in the nation having done professional baseball and soccer fields, tennis courts and golf courses. To say that their presence in Lincoln, IL is a major deal is an understatement.

The feat can be credited to School District 27 Superintendent Kent Froebe and his staff who wrote grants to get this major renovation accomplished.

Striping, new batting cages and scoreboard are also part of the renovation.
