[August 16, 2021]   Doug Barron turned in a 6-under 64 for the third straight day to earn himself his first Champions Tour victory at the Shaw Charity Classic in Calgary, Alberta on Sunday.

Barron birdied his final three holes at Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club to outpace Steve Flesch by two strokes.

At 18-under 192, Barron notched his second win on the seniors' tour after never landing a victory in 238 starts on the PGA Tour.

"Winning, losing, unfortunately, there's only one winner every week and we don't get it very often," Barron told reporters. "So, when you do it, you should enjoy it. I knew when I made that putt on 18 no one could beat me."

Entering Sunday with a one-shot lead, Barron opened his round with a bogey but found smooth sailing from there. He converted his third eagle of the week and finished with five birdies.

Flesch (65) had a hot round going to challenge Barron, but he went 1-over for his final five holes to fall shy.

Billy Andrade (64) and Brandt Jobe (66) tied for third at 13 under and Billy Mayfair (69) was fifth at 12 under.

Stephen Ames finished as the low Canadian at the first major-tour professional golf tournament held in Canada since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ames' final-round 70 was good enough for a tie for sixth at 11 under with Australia's David McKenzie (67).
