Lincoln College Music Students Host Event at Lincoln Art Institute
Student Work Set to Premiere in “Grey Tin Country”

Lincoln College Music students will host an event at Lincoln Art Institute Friday, August 20 at 6:00 p.m.

Students will debut original work titled, “Grey Tin Country,” based on the 1920’s resolution by the Lincoln Town Counsel to ban the performance and teaching of jazz because of the music’s perceived low moral value.

Guided and produced by Lead Faculty of Music, Dr. Denise La Grassa, the film is the latest work of Lincoln College Music students. The original story and music assumes postulates that music was outlawed and the townspeople subsequently built a wall around Lincoln to keep music out, renaming the fictional city, “Grey Tin Country.”

The story imagines how Lincoln, now named “Grey Tin Country,” would have evolved during this scenario, including how residents react to hearing outside music for the first time in their lives.

Physical distancing and masks will be required for admittance. Guests are encouraged to gather outside once capacity limits have been reached.
