[August 28, 2021]  Yasmani Grandal went 4-for-6 with a double, two homers and eight RBIs in his first game back from the injured list, and the Chicago White Sox stormed to a 17-13 win over the visiting Chicago Cubs on Friday night.

Grandal hit a pair of three-run shots and tied the single-game franchise record for RBIs, leading the White Sox back from a 6-0 deficit.

Jose Abreu, Yoan Moncada and Eloy Jimenez added two RBIs apiece to help the White Sox improve to 4-0 against the Cubs this season.

Patrick Wisdom homered twice for the Cubs. Michael Hermosillo and Ian Happ added one homer apiece.

White Sox right-hander Reynaldo Lopez (3-1) pitched five no-hit innings and struck out seven. He provided a steadying influence out of the bullpen after a rough start from left-hander Dallas Keuchel, who gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits in one-plus innings.

Cubs right-hander Adrian Sampson (0-1) took the loss after giving up four runs (one earned) in one inning.

The Cubs jumped to a 6-0 lead in the first. Wisdom started the scoring with a three-run shot. Robinson Chirinos added an RBI double and Andrew Romine had an RBI single before the Cubs added one more run on a botched rundown.

The White Sox got their first run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Abreu.

An eight-run third inning propelled the White Sox to a 9-6 lead.

Abreu had an RBI double and Moncada had an RBI single to chase Cubs starter Keegan Thompson. Sampson came on in relief and promptly gave up a three-run shot to Grandal to even the score at 6-6.

A high pop fly on the infield should have ended the inning, but Romine dropped the ball to allow Andrew Vaughn to score from second. The error by the Cubs shortstop proved even more costly two batters later when Jimenez hit a two-run single to put the White Sox on top by three runs.

In the fifth, the White Sox added four more runs to go ahead 13-6. Luis Robert had an RBI single, Moncada had an run-scoring groundout and Grandal added a two-run double.

The Cubs pulled within 13-7 on Hermosillo's solo shot in the seventh.

Vaughn added an RBI single in the bottom of the frame to make it 14-7.

The Cubs scored three runs in the eighth. Happ had an RBI double and Jason Heyward hit a two-run double.

Grandal delivered another three-run blast, his 16th homer of the season, in the eighth.

Wisdom hit his second homer of the night and 23rd of the season in the ninth. Happ added a two-run shot two batters later.

Grandal is the sixth White Sox player to drive in eight runs in a game, with the most recent to do it before Friday being Robin Ventura in 1995.
