For November, the Ag in the Classroom theme was cranberries, staying
true to the time of year and the thanksgiving tradition of consuming
cranberries in some form at holiday meals.
Fourth grade students at Washington Monroe made predictions about
cranberries bouncing and did taste testing of fresh and dried
cranberries.
Fun Fact: Did you know that inside every cranberry are four air
chambers, which allow it to float in water? That is why water
harvesting is so effective.
Logan County Ag in the Classroom program is sponsored by Logan
County University of Illinois Extension, Logan County Farm Bureau,
Ag in the Classroom and Logan-Sangamon-Menard Agricultural Education
Partnership. The goal of this organization is to teach students
about the farms that produce the food we eat daily and also on
special occasions.
