Last year due to mandated closures the Arlee Theater in Mason City
could not hold its annual Polar Express Experience. This year it may
look a bit different, but the Polar Express is scheduled to arrive
on time. Plans to present a safe event at the Arlee have been
evolving into what management believes will be a safe experience for
all.
Contrary to earlier plans, Santa will be present, but he will be on
the stage after each show for families wanting photos. They will be
asked to remain in their seats until their turn to prevent crowding.
Families wishing to depart instead may do so.
In accordance with Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines,
social distancing will be observed, and masks will be required when
not seated. In addition, seating will be limited to less than 30
percent capacity so advance tickets are advised.
The Arlee’s Polar Express Experience has become a local tradition
that families look forward to every year. It sets the mood for the
rest of the holidays as we all listen for the tinkling of sleigh
bells and ponder what we believe.
