[December 08, 2021]  LINCOLN - Magdalene Irish, 94, passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Visitation:  9 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln

Service:  11 a.m. Saturday at the church

Obituary

Magdalene Irish, 94, passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Magdalene was born on April 11, 1927, in Pekin, daughter of Phillip and Johanna (Musselman) Guengerich. She married Terrence “Terry” Irish on January 18, 1976, in Pekin. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2001.

Surviving Magdalene is her daughter: Jody Borbely; two stepdaughters: Karen Irish and Linda Irish; two grandchildren: Jim (Hope) Borbely and Joe Borbely; three step grandchildren: Erin Danz, Collin Bodan, and Hailey Lee; two great grandchildren Jonah and Ava Borbely and one sister-in-law: Mary Guengerich.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Burton (Jane) Guengerich, Ralph Guengerich, Nelson (Norma) Guengerich, and Mildred (Joe) Willock.

Magdalene was a salesclerk for over 30 years in the Lincoln and Pekin area and such stores as: Fashion Bug, Witzigs Apparel, and Eric Kent. Terry and Magdalene established and operated the Court Street Steakhouse in Pekin for several years.
 

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She was active in 4-H and was Brownie Leader. Magdalene was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manito, IL where she was active in teaching Sunday School and Ladies Guild. Magdalene was a wonderful mom and grandma. She baked cookies for her family until she was unable to. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her, including her turtle: Donnie.

Services for Magdalene will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln, IL with Rev. Clarence Rogers officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service (9:00-11:00 a.m.). Burial at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021.

Memorials may be made in Magdalene’s name to Faith Lutheran Church or Memorial Home Hospice.

Services are entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
