I-55 NORTHBOUND AT THE 137 CLOSED

Multiple vehicle crash at the 137 Mile Post
in the northbound lane of I-55.

Please avoid the area.

An early evening, multiple vehicle accident on Interstate 55 in the northbound lane at the 137-mile post left traffic backed up for quite some time, while other northbound vehicles were re-directed onto Route 66 at the northernmost Lincoln exit.

The accident occurred on Monday, December 13th, at approximately 6:40 p.m.

Logan County first responders, LCPA, Lincoln Rural Fire, Lincoln Fire, Atlanta Fire, were all called to the scene. A helicopter was also brought in, and ambulances were called from McLean.

LDN will provide additional information as it becomes available.

Saturday morning there was a considerable buzz inside the new Elite Kicks shoe store on South Chicago Street in Lincoln. The store hosted its grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony with a huge turnout. There were shoulder to shoulder shoppers inside the store anxious to snatch up some of the stellar sneaker offerings.

On Saturday evening, Senator Sally Turner enjoyed some time with two of the actors of the new movie "A Holiday Homecoming," during a reception held just before the premier presentation of the film at the Johnston Center for the Performing Arts at Lincoln College.

Joining Turner for a photo was the star of the movie, Allison Mulaney (right) and Catherine Cain (left), who has a cameo appearance in the movie.

The pre-movie party was held at the Lincoln Arts Institute downtown.

On Tuesday, December 14th at 11 a.m., the community is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for another new business in Lincoln. Sublime Skin, owned by Jamie Harnacke, is located on the second floor, above Guest House Coffee and Pastries at 113 South Kickapoo Street.

Please come out Tuesday and welcome Jamie to the business community.
