[December 22, 2021] The Lincoln Railers improved to 9-0 on the season with a 33-27 win at Chatham Glenwood on Tuesday night.

The Railers shut the Titans out in the first quarter, leading 9-0 with Aidan Gowin and Jake Bivin providing the offense.

Bivin scored the only basket of the second quarter for Lincoln and with the Titans scoring just a couple field goals, the Lincoln lead was 11-4 at the half.

The Titans would finally come alive in the third quarter and make it a ballgame, outscoring the Railers 16-15. Elijah Pollice led the Lincoln offense in the third quarter with eight points. The Titans pulled to within three points, 23-20 the score, with just under a minute left in the third quarter. A corner three from Camden Nelson just ahead of the buzzer gave the Railers a wee bit of breathing room with a 26-20 lead.

The Railers padded their lead at the 5:38 mark in the fourth quarter as Payton Cook exploded to the basket for a layup, 28-20 now the score. A three from Parker Detmers closed the gap to 28-23 with four minutes left in the game. But Lincoln’s super sophomore, Aidan Gowin, continues to impress with his quickness and patience on the court. Gowin’s two baskets would put the Railers in front 32-25 late in the game. With the Railers taking care of the ball and controlling the game late, they marched away with a 33-27 win over the Titans.

Aidan Gowin led Lincoln with nine points.

Lincoln’s next game is Monday, December 27, 2021 in the Collinsville Prairie Farms Holiday Classic. The Railers will play Alton at 2:30 p.m.
