Railers defeat Alton 35-17 in Collinsville Tournament

[December 28, 2021] The Lincoln Railers won their first game in the 2021 Collinsville Prairie Farms Holiday Classic on Monday afternoon with a 35-17 victory over the Alton Redbirds. 

 

The Railers blanked Alton 7-0 in the first quarter as Elijah Pollice sank a three and Payton Cook scored a couple baskets. 

 

In the second quarter it was Camden Nelson hitting four threes to lead Lincoln. Pollice added four points in the quarter and the Railers led 23-4 at the half. 

 

Cook scored six points in the third quarter and with Tyler Sasse making a three the Railers were able to increase the lead to 32-8. 

 

A basket by Drew Hayes and a free throw by Jaden Klopp was the only scoring by the Railers of the fourth quarter. 

 

Lincoln wins over Alton 35-17 and improves their record to 10-0 on the season. 

 

The combined final score of 52 points is now a new record of the lowest points scored by two teams in the tournament. 

 

Camden Nelson led Lincoln with 12 points. Payton Cook added 10 points for the Railers.

Lady Railers did not play yesterday due to illness on the opposing team. The Lady Railers are scheduled to play two games today in the Peoria Manual Tournament.
