Quincy edges Railers in Collinsville Tournament

[December 29, 2021] The Lincoln Railers lost their first game of the season on Tuesday with a 33-30 loss to Quincy in the 2021 Collinsville Prairie Farms Holiday Classic. 

 

The Railers had the lead through three quarters but saw this one slip away in the final quarter. 

 

With Payton Cook scoring all five of the Railers points, Lincoln held a 5-3 advantage at the end of one quarter of play. 

 

Camden Nelson and Aidan Gowin made the only threes for Lincoln in the second quarter and this guided the Railers to a 15-13 lead at the half. 

 

Jake Bivin and Elijah Pollice combined to score ten points in the third quarter and Lincoln was holding on to a 26-20 lead. 

 

Lincoln surrendered the lead late in the fourth quarter and with Bivin scoring the only Railers field goal in the eight minutes, the Railers would fall in defeat. Pollice and Cook were each 1-for-2 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to complete the scoring. Pollice’s attempt at a three at the buzzer was off and the Quincy Blue Devils stole the win, 33-30 the final score.

Elijah Pollice led Lincoln with 8 points. 

 

Lincoln falls to 10-1 on the season and 1-1 in the tournament.
