[February 13, 2021]  Friends of Tracy Welch for Mayor would like to remind the community about the upcoming Primary election and asks for your support and vote for Mayor on February 23, 2021.

Welch is a life-long Lincoln native. He has been married for 28 years to his wife, County Board member, Annette Welch. They have two daughters, Kayla Welch of Mesa, AZ and Haley Welch of Bloomington. His brothers Jerry and Ashley Welch (wife Sara) live in Lincoln while his parents Jack and Donna Welch reside in Beason.

Tracy has served as Alderman for Ward 1 since November of 2015 when he was appointed by Mayor Marty Neitzel. Since then, he has been re-elected twice by the residents of Ward 1. In 2019 he was appointed by Mayor Seth Goodman to serve as Mayor Pro Tem and was unanimously appointed by the council in June of 2020 to serve as Acting Mayor after the resignation of Mayor Goodman. He also serves on the Veteran’s Assistance Commission, Third Friday Committee, Employee Health Insurance Committee, Economic Development Grant Commission, 5th Street Road Project team, and Combined Sewer Overflow team, among others.

Tracy has always been open about the fact that he got into politics to serve the community and to be a true voice of the citizens. He has also been an advocate for government transparency which is why one of his first acts as Alderman was to initiate live streaming of city council meetings, at his own expense. Since then, the city has assumed responsibility for providing this service which he hopes will continue well into the future.

Being accessible to constituents and responsive to their needs is something that Tracy takes seriously. He takes the necessary time to respond to inquiries, answer questions and helps solve issues that improve the quality of life of constituents. Since assuming the role of Acting Mayor he has also established office hours to be more accessible.

Since joining the council, Tracy has fought hard each year during budget preparations to ensure that additional funds are budgeted for maintenance and upgrades of roads, curbs, gutters, and our aging sewer system. Furthermore, he has been vocal about the fact that when identifying infrastructure targets for improvements each year, every Ward should receive equal attention.

Welch also understands that the city has struggled for several years when it comes to economic development and that we need to be more proactive in our efforts to attract new businesses while also supporting existing businesses. He worked closely with city and county officials to help businesses that were severely impacted by the pandemic and on the brink of closure. He feels that we also need to work closely with our community partners to promote all that Lincoln has to offer and to create additional opportunities and amenities with hopes of attracting those who are looking for a community such as ours to settle down and raise a family.

As you can tell, Tracy Welch has a strong passion for Lincoln. He has worked diligently for years to serve its citizens while focusing on efforts to continuously improve the community. If elected, you can be assured that he will continue to work just as hard.

We kindly ask for your vote on February 23, 2021. You can also vote early by visiting the Clerk’s Office at the Logan County Courthouse, Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.
