Heartland Community College looks to support the needs of the area’s
workforce with the creation of a new position to help develop Career
and Technical Education.
Sienna Beard has been named Associate Director of Career and
Technical Education (CTE). The role is responsible for leading
recruitment, advisement, and student engagement efforts for the CTE
division.
In her new position, Beard manages the recruiting process for
attracting prospective CTE students and also advises new students,
serving as the liaison between them and their desired career paths.
In doing so, Beard connects students with program-specific faculty
advisors. In overseeing the training of CTE faculty advisors, Beard
conducts the implementation of best practices in both monitoring and
fostering student progress and success.
The position is partially funded through an Illinois Community
College Board (ICCB) CTE Improvement Grant. This grant aims to
support the improvement, innovation, and expansion of Career and
Technical Education programming throughout the Illinois community
college system. This grant is made available through Illinois
Perkins Title I Leadership funds.
