Mount Pulaski Courthouse reopens with limited schedule starting January 28th
Introducing the "Little Free Puzzle Library"

[January 23, 2021]   Since the Tier 3 Mitigation has been lifted in Region 3 and is now in Phase 4 of the state’s COVID-19 plan, the Mount Pulaski Courthouse State Historic Site will be reopening!

Next Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. the courthouse will reopen their doors, but with a limited staff and reduced hours. The courthouse will only be open on Thursday’s, Friday’s, and Saturday’s from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is a change from the regular hours of Tuesday through Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The new limited schedule or “Winter Hours” will be implemented the rest of January and will continue through the months of February and March. Private tours will be available on closed days, please call ahead.

The Mount Pulaski Courthouse is happy to introduce The Little Free Puzzle Library. In the midst of the pandemic, puzzles have been a favorite pastime. In the Mount Pulaski community, many private puzzle exchanges have been occurring and a Facebook puzzle group has even been created. Courthouse Foundation Secretary, Julie Wubben, came up with the idea to provide a central location to store puzzles for the community and make sharing easier.

Site Manager, Renee Martin, is implementing Wubben’s idea by providing a bookcase that will be housed inside the courthouse and display any available puzzles. This is a service based on the honor system. Take a puzzle, share a puzzle; it’s that easy! You do not have to share a puzzle to take one either. The concept is the same as the Little Free Library, but all puzzles will be quarantined before they will be available. The Courthouse is only accepting puzzles 300 pieces and above at this time.

As always when visiting the site, social distancing requirements are highly recommended. If you are exhibiting any symptoms, please do not enter.
