[January 25, 2021]  Pius Suter notched a hat trick, the first three goals of his NHL career, and the host Chicago Blackhawks collected their second victory in three days over the Detroit Red Wings 6-2 on Sunday.

Suter scored twice in the first and another in the third for the Blackhawks, who also beat Detroit 4-1 on Friday.

Mattias Janmark and Connor Murphy each had a goal and an assist, while Philipp Kurashev also scored for the Blackhawks. Kevin Lankinen made 25 saves.

Tyler Bertuzzi had a pair of power-play goals for the Red Wings, while Jonathan Bernier made 29 saves.

The Red Wings played without five of their regulars, including second-liners Robby Fabbri and Filip Zadina, after they were placed on the league's COVID-19 protocol list.

Suter's first goal came on a rebound 4:42 into the game. Calvin de Haan's shot from the point was stopped by Bernier but the puck deflected to Suter, who had a wide-open net to steer it in. Patrick Kane had the second assist.

With Detroit's Luke Glendening in the penalty box for holding Murphy's stick, Suter made it 2-0 5:02 later. He deflected a Janmark shot past Bernier. The play was set up by Dominik Kubalik, who prevented the Wings from clearing the puck.

Detroit scored early in the second on a 5-on-3 situation, as Bertuzzi redirected a Dylan Larkin shot 41 seconds into the period.

Murphy reestablished a two-goal lead for Chicago late in the period when he stole an Anthony Mantha clearing attempt and lifted a shot over Bernier's left shoulder. The goal was scored as unassisted at 17:18.

Janmark made it 4-1 58 seconds into the third. Kane carried the puck along the left side and passed it toward the crease to Janmark, who tapped it in. Murphy picked up the second assist.

With Duncan Keith in the box for high sticking, Bertuzzi scored on a rebound at 11:39.

Suter then collected the hat trick at 12:28 of the period when he brought the puck into the Wings zone along the left side and ripped a shot that eluded Bernier's glove.

Kurashev scored at 15:55 to make it 6-2.
