Hank Matthews joins coaching staff at Lincoln College

[July 01, 2021]    Coach Edwind McGhee has named his assistant coach for the upcoming 2021-2022 Men’s Basketball season. Hank Mathews, native of Peoria, Illinois graduated from Columbia College in 2018 with a B.A. in American Studies and just recently earned his M.A.T (Masters of Arts in Teaching) at Columbia College in 2021.

Over the past two seasons Coach Mathews has been a Graduate Assistant at Columbia College assisting in all aspects of the program.

Under Mathews help, the Cougars amassed a 37-19 record in his two years on staff. Also, he helped recruit and coach seven All-AMC Performers, the 2020-2021 AMC Newcomer & Player of the year, as well as the 2020-2021 AMC Freshman of the Year. Mathews also played a pivotal role in academics where the cougars earned the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award in 2019-2020 for their efforts in the classroom, as well as placing 12 of its players on the 2020-2021 team on Academic All-Conference.

Coach Matthews had this to say about joining the Lincoln College Men’s Basketball program, “I am extremely happy to be going to back to central Illinois to join the Lincoln College Athletic Department and its Men’s basketball program. I am grateful for the opportunity that Coach McGhee has given me to join his staff and ready to help continue the great tradition that this basketball program has!”
