[July 28, 2021]   Heartland Community College (HCC) has named Tiara Randle (she/her) as the College’s new Director of Career Connections.

In her new role, Randle will lead comprehensive career services programming that prepares HCC students and graduates for professional success. Responsibilities will include leading College-wide coordination and collaboration of programming on career preparation, with the ultimate goal of connecting Heartland students with employment opportunities and positioning them for successful entry into or advancement in the workforce.

Randle began contributing her talents to HCC in August 2010 as a Read Right Facilitator, and continued serving the College as an Assessment Facilitator while she worked towards her Master of Science in College Student Personnel Administration from Illinois State University.

After earning her M.S. in May 2015, Tiara joined Heartland’s TRIO/Project RISE team as the Assistant Director and Secondary Education Instructor. Through which, she’s helped first-generation, low-income, and students with accommodations discover the vastness of their potential by designing and implementing programs that explore essential concepts surrounding personal success and the critical components of career exploration.

Having served Heartland as Assistant Director for TRIO Student Support Services for the past five years, Randle will pivot into the new position with ample experience in supporting a diverse body of students in their career pathways and connecting them to meaningful experiences.

“Over the past five years, I have had the absolute honor of working with a resilient group of learners in TRIO/Project RISE,” shared Tiara Randle. “The students often remind me that it is never too late to change direction and try something new, especially if it brings you closer to your passions. The idea of expanding my reach to a broader set of students as the Director of Career Connections is an exciting opportunity because I’ll be able to explore the fullness of building a specialized area where, my passion – the future of students – is at the forefront.”
