[July 31, 2021]   On Wednesday, the community was invited to an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony at Chittick Family Eye Care in Lincoln. Chittick is the new name associated with the doctor’s office of Dr. Todd Nobbe.

At the office, patients will see only a few changes between the former practice name and the new. Dr. Nobbe is still at the helm of the office, and many of the staff that were there before are still on hand today.

Wednesday, the day began at 11 a.m. with free food being served by Nuthatch Hill BBQ. Jennifer Luckhart, who with husband Brad owns the BBQ business, said that there had been a good number of people come starting early. She noted that the organizers had estimated 50 guests for food, but she was certain that number had been exceeded.

Food was set up outside, guests went inside to receive a ticket. Inside, visitors had the opportunity to take in the frame offerings now available through Chittick, talk with staff and register to win a Brio Scooter that was on display in the front entryway.

WLCH radio started remote broadcast inside the office at noon.

The ribbon cutting ceremony for the new business name was held at 12:30 p.m. There were at least 20 to 25 people to watch as a group representing the city of Lincoln and Logan County, as well as Chittick staff and Dr. Nobbe and wife Chris gathered behind the ribbon.

Also representing the city of Lincoln were Alderwoman Wanda Lee Rohlfs, City Clerk Peggy Bateman and City Treasurer Chuck Conzo. Representing the county were County Clerk Theresa Moore, County Treasurer Penny Thomas, and Logan County Circuit Clerk Kelly Elias.

Conzo was the designated speaker on behalf of the city in the absence of Mayor Tracy Welch. Conzo is also a patient of Dr. Nobbe and spoke from a personal perspective as well as a city perspective. He noted that the transition to Chittick has been ongoing for the last few months.

Conzo said he had been very impressed during his last visit with the “state of the art technology” that Chittick is bringing to the practice. He offered a bit of history on the company explaining that Chittick has several practices and years of experience in eye care. He said that having the Chittick brand in Lincoln was a great move for the community.

Alderwoman Rohlfs also took the opportunity to thank the Chittick Company for its investment in Lincoln.

Todd Nobbe explained that the transition to Chittick had been underway for the last couple years. He said that the company had been great to work for and very supportive during the transition process. He extended his thanks to the community for its support of Nobbe Eye Care over the years and explained that the move was a move forward for the practice and the community.

Dr. Ryan Witt is on hand to assist with the transition. He serves at another location managed Chittick.

Others behind the ribbon included Chittick staff, Logan County Fair royalty Queen Faith Doerr, Junior Miss Grace Carter and Little Miss Aubrey Rogers. Kathie Williams represented the Logan County Tourism Bureau, and Karen Hargis and Lisa Ramlow representing Lincoln Daily News were ribbon holders.

When speakers were finished, there was a photo opportunity and then the audience led the traditional three-two-one-snip, and at the mark Dr. Nobbe and Dr. Witte together cut the ribbon on the new business.

Everyone was invited to spend more time at the open house, get some good food, enter the drawings and visit with Chittick staff. The open house concluded at 2 p.m.
